Positive business outlook by $JAYCORP / 7152 (JAYCORP BERHAD): To achieve better results in 2024.

Jaycorp operates in five main business segments, which are furniture (the main contributor of total revenue accounted for approximately 59.7% of total revenue in FY22), packaging, wood processing, renewable energy, and construction. Other than that, Jaycorp also operates business in general trading, transportation, property letting, and printing.

Asia and North America is the group’s key market as they contributed 81.8% and 12% of total revenue in FY23 respectively.

As in the figure below, the revenue of the group in FY23 was lower than in FY22 due to an overall decline in demand in export markets (all regions) and the local market, the deemed disposal of a subsidiary (PT Tiga Mutiara Nusantara becoming a joint venture company) and disposal of a subsidiary (Digital Furniture Sdn Bhd). For each detail of the segmental result, I will sum up in short based on the group’s latest annual report below:

- Furniture segment: declined from RM23.32M to RM18.08M in FY23 due to decreased sales to North America and local markets, along with the disposal of a subsidiary (Digital Furniture Sdn Bhd)

- Packaging segment: decreased from RM4.8M to RM2.1M in FY23 due to lower demand from existing internal and external customers in the furniture industry.

- Wood processing segment: increased from RM2.2M (loss) to RM0.4M in FY23 due to lower inventory write-down.

- Renewable energy segment: increased from RM1.1M to RM1.7M in FY23 due to increased offtake by existing and new customers.

- Construction segment: decreased from RM5M to RM0.9M in FY23 due to reduced construction margins and impairment of receivables

- Others segment: decreased from RM0.8M to RM0.1M in FY23 due to lower intercompany sales.

The group's financial performance for the fiscal year 2023 is of course considered less favorable, evident from the significant declines across various segments. In response to this, the management has stated in their latest annual report that they are committed to improving results in the coming year. In the manufacturing and furniture segments, the group will concentrate on cost control, exploring new markets, and developing new products. In the packaging segment, in addition to trimming production costs, the group will continue to upgrade machinery to enhance operational efficiency, with the expectation of maximizing net profit in this segment. Moreover, the acquisition of 9 acres of leasehold land in Johor is seen as an opportunity for the group to supply carton boxes to furniture manufacturers, particularly at the Muar Furniture Park in the future. Considering the Sabah government's active implementation of a tourism revitalization strategy, the management anticipates that Jaycorp Engineering & Construction Sdn Bhd will take advantage of these opportunities to enhance the group's future earnings, especially in the construction and property segments. Lastly, with this positive sentiment, there is a possibility that it will have a positive impact on other segments as well.
