Tough competition in Beer Market.

$DLTA has been hit with higher excise tax at the beginning of this year and fierce competition from local/craft beer that emerges out of nowhere (such as kurakura beer). 2Q24 and 3Q24 results are the firm confirmation that DLTA is in tough position at current beer market condition.

Several weeks ago when I was around SCBD/Senopati Restaurant Area, I can see and feel that the beer menu is not like it used to be. The local craft beer (mainly from Bali) somehow has found a way to gain presence in Jakarta's higher end restaurants.

and don't forget Prost Beer has been very aggressive in marketing and promotion since before covid19.

Meanwhile $MLBI is at better position which is confirmed with better than expected 3Q24 results which MLBI recorded double digit revenue growth. MLBI renowned Bintang Beer has been helping the company to fight in this tough competition. This is also mainly due to MLBI has a strong presence in Bali (which tourism is still going strong), unlike DLTA.
