RAWANG: The dispute between Prasarana Malaysia Bhd and Scomi Group Bhd, which dragged on for years, has finally ended with the signing of a settlement agreement yesterday.
The new deal supersedes the previous RM494 million contract awarded to Scomi Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary Scomi Engineering Bhd in December 2010 in respect of the Kuala Lumpur Fleet Monorail Expansion (KLFME) project that was terminated in 2016.

A years-long dispute between Prasarana Malaysia Bhd and Scomi Engineering Bhd has come to an end with the signing of a new contract worth RM303 million between the two parties today.

Scomi Group Bhd said the High Court has granted orders for two subsidiaries it wholly owns, Scomi Engineering Bhd (SEB) and Scomi Transit Projects Brazil (Sao Paulo) Sdn Bhd (STPBSP), to be placed under judicial management.
Datuk Heng Ji Keng and Andrew Heng from Ferrier Hodgson MH Sdn Bhd were appointed as judicial managers for the two companies, according to the group's filing to Bursa Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR: Scomi Engineering Bhd and Larsen and Toubro Ltd's contract for the design, development, construction, operation and maintenance of a monorail system in the Mumbai Metropolitan region has been terminated.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 17): Scomi Group Bhd confirmed today that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has terminated the monorail contract awarded to Scomi and its Indian partner 10 years ago.
Scomi’s unit Scomi Engineering Bhd, and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T), are the two members of a consortium that operates India’s first monorail network.
The consortium was awarded the contract for the design, development, construction, operation and maintenance of the 19.5km monorail network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in November 2008.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 7): Three subsidiaries of Scomi Group Bhd have applied for judicial management at the Shah Alam High Court today to temporary shield them from legal proceedings “by third parties”.
The three units are Scomi Engineering Bhd (SEB), Scomi Rail Bhd (SRB) and Scomi Transit Project Brazil (Sao Paolo) Sdn Bhd (STPB), said the group in a press statement.
Scomi, however, did not refer to any specific "third parties" in the statement.

KUALA LUMPUR: Export-Import Bank of Malaysia (Exim Bank) has served a notice of demand on subsidiaries of Scomi Group Bhd for allegedly failing to pay US$19.13 million (RM80 million) due under bank facilities.
Scomi Transit Projects Brazil (Sao Paulo) Sdn Bhd (STPB), a wholly-owned unit of Scomi Engineering Bhd (SEB), which is in turn a wholly-owned unit of Scomi Group, was the borrower, while SEB acted as its guarantor.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 29): Subsidiaries of Scomi Group Bhd have been served a notice of demand for US$19.13 million (RM79.83 million) by the Export-Import Bank of Malaysia (EXIM) over a failure to pay the amount due under bank facilities.
Scomi Transit Projects Brazil (Sao Paulo) Sdn Bhd (STPB), a wholly-owned unit of Scomi Engineering Bhd (SEB), which is in turn a wholly-owned unit of the Scomi group, had been the borrower while SEB had acted as its guarantor.

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 2): Shah Hakim @ Shahzanim Zain has resigned as chief executive officer of Scomi Group Bhd to focus on other business commitments.
Consequently, his board position as executive director has been redesignated as non-independent non-executive director. Besides that, Shah Hakim currently sits on the board of Scomi Energy Services Bhd, Scomi Engineering Bhd and KMCOB Capital Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): After nearly 22 years as a public listed company, loss-making Scomi Engineering Bhd announced its shares will be delisted next Wednesday (Feb 28), following a successful merger with its parent company.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Scomi Engineering said its shares will be removed from the official list of Bursa Securities on Monday, pursuant to Paragraph 16.07(b) of the Main Market Listing Requirements.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 7): Trading of Scomi Engineering Bhd’s shares will be suspended on Feb 9 to facilitate its merger with Scomi Group Bhd.
“Kindly be advised that trading in the shares of Scomi Engineering will be suspended with effect from 9am on Friday, Feb 9, 2018, in order to facilitate the implementation of the aforesaid merger,” its filing read today.
